1.1. Graduate Courses:
In order to be accepted you have to provide university with an evident of your financial statue to pay fees and cover you living expenses. You will have to pay following fees:
- University Composition Fee - this is for the teaching and supervision you will receive from your department. The amount can vary depend on the department or faculty.
- College Fee - this covers the cost to your College of providing a range of domestic and pastoral services and support. The amount may vary from college to college.
- Living expenses (maintenance) - this is an estimate of your likely basic living expenses and personal costs, including your College accommodation bill if you live in. Figures for EU and Overseas students include a one-off settling-in figure. You will also need to meet all other costs - e.g. food, books, travel, personal computer equipment - from your maintenance sum, and the figure quoted should be regarded as the absolute minimum you will require.
- Dependants - If you intend to bring your family with you, you will have to provide the amount required to cover their maintenance costs separately; this is not provided by scholarships. Bringing one adult dependant will mean you will need to provide an additional £5,040 per year; your first child will require an additional £2,868 and subsequent children will need £978 each.
- Childcare - The cost of childcare in Cambridge is extremely high. Full-time nursery care for pre-school children costs up to £8,700 per child per year, and after-school clubs for children of school age cost £1,000-1,500 per child per year. These costs are in addition to the figures below.
- Course costs - If you undertake a course involving abnormally expensive laboratory materials, you may be expected to contribute towards the cost of your research (in addition to the University Composition and College Fees). The Admissions Office will let you know about this when it makes you an offer. Some courses may involve extra costs for special elements such as conference visits or field trips. Please check the application information and website for the course that interests you to find out if you will need to make provision for this.

1.2. Undergraduate courses
As an undergraduate student in Cambridge you have to consider 3 types of costs:

2. Financial Aid/ Scholarships / Loans
There are various sources to fund your study at the University of Cambridge. Most of them are provided by the university and Colleges. The university and colleges' funding are highly competitive. Therefore you should not rely only on these possibilities and have to look other resources for funding. The biggest funding body associated with the university is Cambridge Trust. Trust offers various scholarships for oversee students. Application for Cambridge Trust is a part of the academic application for acceptance. Except this as a part of academic application you also can apply for Gates scholarship administered by the Cambridge Trust. For this you only have to tick an appropriate box in the application asking you if you would like to be considered for Gates scholarship. Many Colleges offer scholarships and bursaries, and summary details can be found in the College entries.
2.1. Cambridge Oversees Trust
Students from Azerbaijan are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Cambridge Overseas Trust was established in 1982 by the University of Cambridge under the Chairman-ship of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to provide financial assistance for outstanding students from overseas who, without help, would be unable to take up their places at Cambridge. Since 1982, the Cambridge Overseas Trust 4,252 students from 76 countries.
Applicants eligible for the scholarships from Cambridge Oversees Trust:
- must be admitted to Cambridge through the University's normal academic procedures. The Trusts cannot admit students.
- may come from any country of the world except the United Kingdom.
- may apply to study any subject currently available at the University.
- must have a first class or high second class honours degree, or its equivalent, from a recognised university. For universities, which work according to the North American pattern, candidates will be expected to have excellent transcripts with high GPA scores showing evidence of sustained achievement in study.
- should note that some awards may give preference to candidates under the age of 30.
- from countries of the European Union may be eligible for fees awards from public authorities, and must apply for these where appropriate.
- who are not native speakers of English are required by the Board of Graduate Studies to provide the results of an English language test and to meet the minimum standard of proficiency required for admission to Cambridge (see Entry requirements)
Once you are offered a place by the University Cambridge Oversees Trust consider you for the possible scholarship opportunities within the Trust scholarships. Scholarships available for students from Azerbaijan can be viewed here.
Scholarships also are degree based. There separate scholarships or PhD and MA students. Scholarships provided by the Trust usually are full scholarships, which covers student's tuition and college fees, as well as living expenses and round trip ticket. 2.2. Gates Cambridge Trust
Gates Cambridge Trust was established by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in October 2001 for scholars of outstanding academic merit and leadership potential from every country of the world (excluding the United Kingdom), who are committed to serving their communities, and who gain admission to the University of Cambridge. Since 2001, the Gates Cambridge Trust has supported 527 Scholars from 72 countries.
The Gates Cambridge Trust intends to offer a substantial number of awards annually, which will cover the costs of studying at Cambridge for the following courses of study:
- Research leading to the degree of PhD
- One-year postgraduate courses of study
- Second bachelor degree as an affiliated student
- Clinical Studies MBBChir degree
Some of these awards will be for students from the United States of America; but students from all countries, including countries of the European Union (but excluding the United Kingdom), will be eligible to be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. The Gates Cambridge Scholarships will cover:
- University Composition Fee and College fees at the appropriate1 rate
- a maintenance allowance for a single student (£8,800 for 12 months for 2006-07)
- a further discretionary allowance (£2,200 per year for 2006-07)
- one economy one-way airfare from the scholar's normal country of residence to the UK at the beginning of the course of study or research; and one economy one-way airfare from the UK to the scholar's normal country of residence at the end of the course of study or research.
